Being a mother is a gift and a huge responsibility – and truth be told, it is a “job” that never actually ends. Not even (or especially not!) on your daughter’s wedding day. If your baby girl is getting married, make sure you are fully aware of your duties! Here are some of the most important ones:
Help the bride pick her dress and her trousseau. Keep in mind that she should like it the most and always give genuinely helpful advice.
Help the bride, the groom and his parents narrow down the list of wedding guests when this is needed.
In certain traditions (Jewish, for example), both the mother of the bride and her father escort her down the aisle at the ceremony – so you might have to do this too.
Find a dress that looks beautiful together with the bride’s dress and with the wedding party’s dresses (but make sure they are not too similar).
Help the bride and the groom receive the guests. While fathers are not obliged to be there, mothers (of the bride and of the groom) should make sure to be in the receiving line.
Dance during the special dances section. Usually, the mother of the bride dances with the father of the bride and sometimes with the groom as well.
Help the bride and the groom search for the perfect ceremony site and wedding reception venue. Also, stay in contact with venues if the wedding takes place where you live and the bride is not there.
If you are helping your daughter find the dream venue too, make sure to check out with Fleur de Lis Event Center. Elegant, unforgettable and really versatile, our wedding venue is here for your daughter’s Big Day!
