A wedding’s magic will never lie in how the bride and groom choose to follow century-old etiquette rules or in how their guests applaud their choices. For a lot of people, weddings are about much more than that now, in 2015 – and this is precisely why certain wedding “traditions” are starting to be left aside.

What are the 3 wedding traditions you don’t really have to follow today? Read on and find out more.

  • The white wedding dress. With a history of just a bit more than 200 years, the white wedding dress has nothing to do with love, nor does it have to do anything with modern marriage. In fact, some people may even find it offensive to make a woman wear a sign of her purity in the 21st Thus, if you feel that a white dress would not suit you, who you are and what your love story is all about, you are more than free to wear any other color you want.
  • The bride’s parents paying for the wedding. These days, weddings can get quite expensive – so it is more than understandable why leaving it all on her parents’ shoulders would not be extremely fair. If you want to, you can all split the bill, you can allow the parents of the bride and groom to pay it or you can even choose to do this all on your own.
  • The Maid of Honor. This may sound surprising to some, but the truth is that you don’t have to have a Maid of Honor at your wedding. Actually, you can have more than one Maids of Honor, you can have none at all or you can even have a “Best Man of Honor” as well. This choice is entirely up to you.

Regardless of how conventional or unconventional you choose to be about these issues, rest assured that Fleur de Lis Event Center will be more than happy to host your Big Day. Come visit our gorgeous ballroom, take a look around and book us for an unforgettable wedding!
