“I Do” are the magic two words every bride and every groom eagerly expect and get anxious over. And yet, who will be the person asking you if you “do” when the Big Day comes? Who will be your wedding officiant? This task can be really difficult, as there are many options available. However, we hope the following tips will help you make this easier – so make sure to read on and take them into consideration when selecting your wedding officiant.
• If you want to have a religious ceremony, look within your religious community. Even if your wedding doesn’t take place in an actual house of worship, but at a wedding ceremony site, you can still call in a religious officiant. Also, keep in mind that if you and your spouse-to-be do not have the same religious affiliations, you can still find religious wedding officiants who will be willing to go through with the ceremony for you.
• If you do not want to have a religious ceremony, you still have a lot of options available. From retired judges to having a friend officiate the wedding for you, there are a lot of people who can ask the big question. Just make sure you are comfortable with your choice and that your officiant will be able to sign the papers so that everything is legal too (the laws regarding this may vary from one state to another so keep in mind that you should check things out first).
• Regardless of whether you want to go for a religious ceremony or if you want to go for a civil ceremony, make sure you are 100% on the same page with your officiant. After all, the last thing you want is to wake up with an officiant who preaches something you don’t believe in during your big moment, right? Check with the “script”, check with the language you want your officiant to use and make sure you sign a clear agreement with him/her. Furthermore, make sure that your officiant understands how long or short you want the ceremony to be as well.
Here at Fleur de Lis Event Center, we can provide you with an officiant to lead you and your fiancé to the big “I Do”. Our ordained minister’s are able to officiate legal marriages and this means that you will not have to worry about searching for someone to take care of the ceremony processions (unless, of course, you want to bring someone you have already chosen).
Come visit us and learn more about the services we offer, about the excellent vendors we work with and about our officiant as well. We will make sure your Big Day is perfect from all points of view!
