First, I want to apologize for not sending an update since we reopened. We have been so busy, hosting and booking future events that I totally forgot!
With all the new covid cases, it’s totally understandable to be concerned about the possibility of newly added restrictions. In fact, the Mayor of New Orleans and the President of Jefferson parish have done so, but our area has not. I am in constant contact with local officials, and continue to feel while likely not easing restrictions, new restrictions aren’t expected and our health care system is well prepared.
I think it’s important to understand when this pandemic started the fear of overwhelming hospitals and people dying in the halls was real and drove government decisions. We all heard about flattening the curve. Well, the graph below shows we have flattened it in Louisiana. Yet, I get it when you learn someone tests positive it brings up fears they will die and infect everyone else as well. But that is just not likely the case. With young adults driving the new positive’s, death rates while slightly up are projected to fall and continue to fall starting later this month.
Please don’t misunderstand, we totally understand this is real and has devastated many families. In fact, my sister in law’s boss died from covid. So, we are taking every precaution we can to keep Fleur de Lis’ safe and have been successful for 7 weeks while hosting events! At the same time, I learned that approximately half of 1% of all Americans live in nursing homes yet 43% of the deaths have come from nursing homes. Covid 19 is still very dangerous, but mainly for people already sick/compromised.
Jesus said in John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Understanding these facts “truths” will hopefully lower your concerns and concerns of guests. We are in a much better place today than a few months ago, even if it doesn’t feel like it. Medical care is more prepared and scientist are closer to a cure.
So do your best to enjoy your wedding planning process. Please realize we at Fleur de Lis Event Center are staying on top of this and will share information the moment we receive it. So, enjoy your weekend and let us know if we can help in any way.
